JWRC
Suzuki has been the dominant force in the highly competitive Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC) for the past decade, clocking up two world titles, two drivers' titles and numerous rally wins.
The Swift Super 1600 made its JWRC debut at Rally Finland in 2005 with a podium finish. In 2006, the Swift Super 1600 won five out of nine events, setting the stage for a domination of the 2007 season.
That year, Suzuki finished every rally with a podium finish and Per Gunnar Andersson had the driver's title wrapped up halfway through the season.
Using the highly successful Swift Sport as a donor car, the Suzuki JWRC team has started the 2009 season in similar fashion and fills four of the top five positions in the driver's standing.
Heading the Suzuki charge in 2009 is young Polish driver Michal Kosciuszko who, behind the wheel of a Swift Super 1600, won on debut at the 2008 Rally d'Italia Sardegna. His talent shines on gravel especially, and once he enters a rhythm, his speed is definitely at the peak of JWRC ability.
Aaron Burkart also joins Suzuki Sport Europe this year. He finished second in the 2008 JWRC championship, and is regarded as one of the most talented young drivers in his home country of Germany. His speed is evident whether on tarmac or gravel, with impressive stage times on both surfaces and he is expected to make a big challenge for the 2009 title.
This passion for motorsport flows across into all Suzuki production vehicles, providing spirited performance and exceptional reliability, culminating in the ultimate driving experience.
motoGP
Suzuki has a long and rich history at the pinnacle of motorcycle road racing, with numerous world titles and a pantheon of stars including Barry Sheene, Kevin Schwantz, Kenny Roberts Jr and Randy Mamola.
In 2009, rising Australian star Chris Vermeulen and teammate Loris Capirossi continue their quest for another world championship onboard the 800cc Suzuki GSV-R in the distinctive blue colours of Rizla Suzuki MotoGP.
Vermeulen already has his maiden win under his belt, with his memorable ride in the wet at the 2007 French MotoGP.
Capirossi comes to the team with a wealth of experience, including 29 wins and three titles in the 125 and 250cc categories.
AMA Superbikes
Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing is ready, willing and able to continue its "Own the Racetrack" performance in 2009. The team enters the new season with championship-winning equipment, new team members and the same exacting standards that have helped it win six consecutive Superbike Championships.
The most successful road racing champion in AMA history, Australian Mat Mladin is the de facto leader of the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Racing squad. With six Superbike championships on his resume, Mladin brings experience to the racing grid that no other competitor can match.
Tommy Hayden returns for his third year on the Rockstar Makita Suzuki team. In 2009, Hayden will focus his efforts on Superbike class competition. Last season, Hayden raced both Supersport and Superbike, with a mid-season injury in Supersport competition interrupting an otherwise successful season.
New to the team for 2009, 21-year-old Blake Young moves up to the factory team following three years racing for Suzuki support teams. Young proved he's capable of competing at the top level with victories in two racing classes in 2008. He earned his first pro-level victories in 2008, and is prepared to continue at this level.
All three Rockstar Makita Suzuki races will compete on the Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the AMA Pro American Superbike class. New for 2009, the GSX-R1000 brings a new level of performance to the racetrack - the racetrack it has owned for so many years. A new engine and all-new chassis help this bike deliver improved power and handling.
Supercross
The Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing Team enters the 2009 AMA Supercross and AMA Motocross seasons with an electrifying mix of championship experience, youthful enthusiasm and dynamic sponsor support.
Headed by five-time World Champion Roger DeCoster, the 2009 team welcomes defending World Supercross Champion and Australian native Chad Reed, to a promising racing crew. The 26-year old brings a collection of international championships as well as unmatched enthusiasm for continued success.
With a racing resume like no other competitor, Ricky Carmichael will also bring priceless experience to the Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing Team this year.
Retired from racing since 2007, Carmichael will be busy helping the Suzuki team test and develop the RM-Zs.
