A day at the Adelaide 4WD and Adventure Show
With 180 exhibitors at the 2014 Adelaide 4WD & Adventure Show (happening at the Adelaide Showground from Friday, 24 October to Sunday, 26 October), you’ll be hard-pressed to see it all. To help you on your way, we’ve created an itinerary that offers a glimpse of just some of the highlights.
9am: Gates open at 9am on all three days of the show – so if you arrive bright and early, prepare yourself for the day with a breakfast stop at one of the cafes near the entrance closest to the showground car park.
9.30am: Coffee in hand, wander over to the 4WD Track, where the latest four-wheel drives (4WDs) and SUVs will be on show, as well as stunt-driving displays. Right next door you’ll find the ARB Recovery Pit, where demonstrations of recovery tricks will run continuously across the weekend.
10.30am: Plan your next road trip by checking out an abundance of camper trailers: ‘roughing it’ never looked so good!
11am: The Club Marine SA Boat and Fishing Show is running alongside the Adelaide 4WD & Adventure Show this year, so make your way through the Jubilee Pavilion, to the Fishing Stage. Here, you can watch fishing demos, pick up some angling tips and hear from show ambassador Paul Worsteling from IFISH (pictured), as well as special guests Jason Andrews from All 4 Adventure and fishing presenters Jason Erlich and Jason Medcalf. Plus, if you’re in the market for a boat, there are plenty to choose from – whether you’re looking for something to drive your next water-skiing or wakeboarding adventure, or something smaller that comes with a paddle.
12pm: Take a seat at the Club Marine Lifestyle Stage and check out chef Bart Beek’s live cooking shows. The owner and creator of Melbourne’s Essence Food Studio will present his favourite recipes from past editions of Club Marine magazine’s ‘Gourmet’ section, as well as new recipes specially crafted for the occasion.
12.45pm: Want a new boat for next to nothing? Before leaving the pavilion, head to site JB08 and purchase a raffle ticket ($20 per entry) for your chance to win a Savage 435 Jabiru Pro package.
1pm: All those cooking demos have no doubt made you hungry, so head outside to the food court via Duncan Gallery, where exhibitors such as Rawnsley Park Station, Skytrek & Willow Springs Station and Bendleby Ranges will provide inspiration for your next adventure-holiday destination.
1.30pm: Refuelled and refreshed, have a wander through the Goyder Pavilion – home to the Suzuki stand. Here, you'll find our new Grand Vitara, new Jimny Sierra, S-Cross and the three-door Grand Vitara set up for flat towing, as well as Suzuki motorcycles, APVs and quad bikes.
2.30pm: Leaving the Goyder Pavilion, the younger members of your party can have a go at the Kid's Casting Competition. Run by an angling club, the competition gives children the chance to try their hand at casting a rod across a specially designed pool, with prizes to be won if they hit a target.
3pm: Make your way past the 4WD clubs and head into the Wayville Pavilion, where you’ll find Pat Callinan of 4x4 Adventures sharing inspirational and educational stories about everything 4x4.
4pm: A day at the Adelaide 4WD & Adventure Show wouldn’t be complete without visiting the Bush Camp Stage. Take a seat and watch outback cooking expert and author Jo Clews whip up some treats in a camp oven. You’ll also hear from actor and TV presenter Ernie Dingo, Terrain Tamers’ Allan Gray and other special guests – plus catch product reviews, giveaways and more!
