Storm become World Club Champions
It's official. The mighty Melbourne Storm are the finest rugby league team in the world after holding out arch rivals the Leeds Rhinos in the World Club Challenge.
The annual match - where the premiership teams from the National Rugby League and the UK Superleague battle it out for world bragging rights - went down to the wire with Melbourne Storm winning 18-14.
In conditions far from friendly, with 20,000 Leeds fans and England's freezing winter to contend with, Cameron Smith and Billy Slater showed their class, Cooper Cronk was named man of the match and debutant Tohu Harris scored a try in his first senior match.
The Melbourne Storm kick off their premiership defence on Sunday, March 10, with a match against old rivals St George at AAMI Park.
