Bought the Suzuki SX4S auto with the HR towbar and extra fruit in 2011. Have done 11K km. The suzuki suits me as a small cross over that is easy to park. I was expecting better fuel economy but its okay. If you drive reasonable in hwy expect 7.3l/100km and in city 10.5l/100km. Have managed to get to 6l/100km driving at 80km/hr to geelong. The ride is good. The arm rest is good. I bouth the reversing alarm option. The auto is smooth. I have take the suzuki through muddy dairy farms and into state forest up steep muddy gravel roads and the SX4 doesn\'t even miss a bit with the AWD lock function in. The ground clearance at 175mm is my biggest issue but choose your path carefully. I find the low gear suitable for down hill decents as well. If you need an innercity hatch manuverability with enough AWD capacity for medium roads this is it. I\'m just dissapointed they don\'t offer the diesel version like in India as I\'d like better than 500km per tank. So far so good. bought mine from Ma

I have been driving my Suzuki SX4 2WD for nearly a year. I chose it as part of my package with a new job. I absolutely love it. I drive up and down a mountain road during the working week and it is zippy, handles the road & the turns incredibky well and has some grunt. It makes me feel safe and is so easy to drive. It was a great choice and I love it.

Re towbar for SX4 AWD you have a choice between Hayman Reese or genuine Suzuki. Hayman Reese fitted in Adelaide was $550 while genuine Suzuki was $650. I preferred the HR with removable 40mm square tube hitch over the genuine which bolts with 2 bolts more discreetly underneath the bumper. However the local fitters of the HR wanted to use hard wired scotch block connectors and I canned that for the genuine Suzuki plugin harness for the extra $110 so it ended up costing similar. You're unlikely to find second hand towbars for a Suzuki generally and bear in mind suppliers like Suzuki and Hayman Reese have to have their towbars rated and approved so clearly that cost must be amortised over the forecast demand for a particular model.

Hey we have a 2009 Awd version also, with the full body kit, twin exhausts and nice wide white mags. We added we added red leather inserts into the doors and red and black leather seats. Looks absolutely awesome, we still get people stopping us and asking what sort of car it is as it looks so hot...the Suzuki badges would not fit on the sports front grill, so people don\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t even know what sort of car it is. Fun to drive, great visibility, we love it....a very sext hairdressers car......we aren\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'t hair dressers....

purchase awd s cvt sx4 late july 2011 and am now on a five thousand plus km road trip to north queensland having completed over three thousand the sx4 is awesome ecomony and ride are great have yet to try on sand but local dirt roads no problems would certainly recommend to anyone . space is also great . visibilty at night is good especilly on country roads all in all a great little package . we came across the sx4 will looking for a new car and had not even heard nof the sx4 till we seen it and once we took the sx4 for a test drive that was it and we are very happy. we have had many stop and ask about the sx4 especially as ours is ery distintiive with more advertising the sx4 more would be seen on the roads. the only downside is the tlack of accessories but that apart very pleased with our first suxzuki and will have many more road trips planned.

I am considering purchasing a awd manual sx4 for towing a camper van braked of max weight 800kG. Does any one have experience with this. Is manual preferable to CVT. thanks dennis c

Great car had mine for a month. One thing though the front mudflaps are very hard to fit on the Hatch AWD S seems like there isn't enough allowance for the plastic moulding around the guards. Plus getting used to how the CVT works takes awhile. Didn't find the instrument lights a problem - I did notice the dim slightly when the headlights come on. Other than that glad I bought one!

SX4 great addition, well appointed. Just need to reduce the glare for the warning lights i.e. CRUISE CONTROL SET HIGH BEAM and LIGHTS ON which destroy your night vision cruising outback away from towns. I cross my hands to block the glare but you can see the shadow of your body from the bright displays. Suzuki say they have to have it his bright for safety reasons. I find myself wondering if they ever did a night trip to check it out. Its seriosu safety issue in as much as you need full night vision to avoid wild life and stock when travelling ouback at night. I am travelling now with Cruise control OFF but the BLUE HIGH BEAM Light and the LIGHTS ON Green are pretty bright still. I have circuit and intend to put a resistor in series with the feed to the LEDS, but unsure if they will come on at lower voltage..

I am still patiently waiting for the first car manufacturer who can smell the roses and offer a city-sized AWD (like the SX4) in a manual turbo diesel.

Alan, CVT has a number of advantages when compared to a traditional automatic transmission. (1) the ride is more comfortable, once there is no dramatic rev fluctuation that occurs during gear shifting; (2) CVT minimises the chances of temporary speed loss in shift up or unintended kick down when going up hill; (3) acceleration is smooth, because the engine revs are ideally adjusted in accordance with the accelerator pedal position; (4) under normal acceleration engine revs are lower, reducing cabin noise and making the drive more comfortable and enjoyable; (5) because there is no dramatic rev fluctuation during gear shifting it is also more fuel efficient.
